PRESS TOOL DESIGN ENGINEER

Salary: To c£45k neg dep exp + benefits
Our client has been established for almost 40 years and is a recognised market leader in the design and development, manufacture, and distribution of electrical cabling and connection solutions worldwide. Due to continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2025 and beyond, they are looking to recruit an experienced, hands-on, and proactive Press Tool Design Engineer to complement their professional and successful Solutions Design team.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Design Manager and based near Coleshill, the successful Press Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for:
1. Designing and developing press tool and fixture designs.
2. Implementing improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.
3. Summarising scientific and engineering principles in an easy-to-understand manner and creating technical reports.
4. Performing CAD model creation, prototyping, and appropriate testing.
5. Conducting essential material stress-strain analysis calculations and DFMEA/PFMEA analysis.
6. Identifying new systems and processes to drive quality and efficiency.
7. Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and researching solutions to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
8. Communicating effectively with clients, colleagues, and contractors at all levels.
9. Managing and planning time effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
10. Working with coordinators and operatives to implement new machines and procedures.
11. Providing manufacturing support and information for all processes.
12. Creating CAD drawings, Press Tooling, and Fixture designs.
13. Generating and maintaining product and process data.
14. Undertaking NPD and associated testing and research as required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging Press Tool Design Engineer role, the successful candidate should demonstrate:
1. At least 4+ years' experience in a similar Press Tooling design position.
2. Qualification to at least HNC level or above in a relevant Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering discipline.
3. SAP/ERP experience.
4. Knowledge of 3D CAD (CREO Parametric or SolidWorks).
5. Demonstrable experience of Press Tool or jig and fixture design.
6. Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
