Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer
Location: Oxford, South
Salary: Starting salary £21,860.80
40 hours per week
28 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays

About The Role
As a Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer, you will join an experienced team maintaining and improving the county's highway infrastructure. This includes working on historic bridges, implementing active travel improvements, and trialing innovative surfacing materials. You will rotate through different teams, starting in the design team, learning core skills such as AutoCAD and aspects of highway and bridge design. The role includes a hybrid working environment of home, office, and site-based work.
Entry Requirements
* You must have the permanent Right to Work in the UK.
* A Levels BBC to include Mathematics or BTEC - DMM in an Engineering or Construction subject or IB Diploma - 30 points to include Mathematics at Higher level.
* GCSE requirement - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 / C or above to include English and Mathematics.
* If you possess an appropriate HND or HNC in Civil Engineering, you may also be considered.
Training and Qualifications
* Complete the Level 6 BEng Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship at Coventry University.
* Work towards professional accreditation with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
* Experience a rotational training programme across the business.
* Receive specific operational and professional additional training.
* Gain mentorship for professional accreditation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Rotate across design, construction, and operations teams delivering highways and structures maintenance projects.
* Assist in planning and implementing schemes from start to finish within budget and compliance.
* Conduct site visits, surveys, and investigations.
* Help prepare scheme designs and documents using design software.
* Review innovations for carbon reduction.
* Assist in supervising construction projects.
* Participate in the company apprentice development programme.
Skills and Experience
* Good problem-solving skills and initiative.
* Proficient IT skills including MS Office.
* Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software is an advantage.
* Good time management and organizational skills.
* Driving licence desirable.
