We are looking for an engineer to join our team who has a passion for solving complex problems. You will be strongly numerate, enjoy sketching-out ideas, and practically minded.
Our work is extremely challenging, and the consequences of failure are high - so we need people who are calm under pressure, and have experience working to high levels of quality. For the professional engineer in the maritime industry, this means that you execute your work in accordance with relevant standards (BS - EN - ISO) and marine classification societies (DNV - LR - BV - ABS).
Responsibilities
* Work with clients to understand / diagnose problems relating to offshore structures / vessels / machines.
* Develop concepts / solutions using hand sketches, AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D software.
* Prepare calculations to justify material and component selection.
* Execute the build and test on site with our project partners.
Qualifications / Skills needed
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Strong understanding of engineering materials and fabrication / machining techniques.
* Able to produce engineering drawings.
* Able to calculate competence of steel structures using WSD and LRFD approaches.
Experience needed
This post is intended for people who have worked in the UK as an engineer for at least two years. Entry level positions will be advertised separately. Applicants from overseas will not be considered due to timescales.

Salary range
Depending on experience, the salary range is £35k to £60k per annum.
Location
We work on site, at the Swans Centre for Innovation, Wallsend. Hybrid working is possible, but we expect a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
