This is a nurturing and inclusive primary school dedicated to supporting all pupils to achieve their full potential. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning in a supportive and structured environment. This role begins ASAP.
Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Support children with SEN on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
* Assist the class teacher in delivering a differentiated and inclusive curriculum.
* Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets, monitoring progress and adapting support as needed.
* Use a range of strategies and resources to help pupils engage with learning.
* Promote children’s independence, confidence, and social development.
* Assist with personal care and emotional well-being where necessary.
* Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to learning.
* Support children with positive behaviour management strategies.
* Foster a calm, nurturing, and structured learning environment.
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
* Experience working with children with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
* A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting children with additional needs.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, working effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
* A good understanding of SEND strategies, including visual supports, sensory-friendly approaches, and communication aids as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
