In October 2023 East and North Hertfordshire urgent and emergency care services received significant revenue investment. Therefore, we are looking to increase our Nurse Team Leaders with focus on improvements in CDU to improve patient safety and experience as well as help achieve the NHS England's drive to 4 hour standard.
The CDU plays a crucial role in ensuring assessment, observation, and treatment of patients requiring further evaluation before a decision on their admission or discharge is made.

Main duties of the job
You will manage the CDU, which is a 7 bed and 4 chair space area along with a team of nurses and clinical support workers, providing clinical guidelines.
You will lead CDU to accommodate frailty patients, patients needing clinical navigator review, and ED patients aiming discharge within the 4 to 6 hours.
You will ensure that patient care is of the highest possible standard and provide advice and support to all staff working in the area.
You will be responsible for the development, monitoring and auditing of standards for use in the clinical area.
Ensuring that care delivered in the clinical area is of the highest quality, supported by research and in accordance with local and national policies, procedures and guidelines.
You will coordinate the daily activities and operations with CDU and safely pulling patients from other areas within ED, ensuring efficient patient flow, timely assessments, and adherence to clinical protocols.
Working in collaboration with other key staff in the clinical group, maintain effective use of bed availability by timely and effective admission and discharge.
