We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our Cyber Platforms team in Leighton Buzzard. You will be responsible for undertaking proactive and reactive monitoring of the Connells Technology Infrastructure, Platforms and Applications, providing timely prevention or resolution of incidents, and appropriate escalation for major issues.
We offer hybrid working arrangement with 1 or 2 days per week in our Leighton Buzzard office.
Responsibilities:
* Implements and maintains IT infrastructure components like servers, networks, and storage systems.
* Troubleshoots technical problems and ensures system uptime and performance.
* Implements security measures to safeguard data and systems.
* Collaborates with IT operations teams to resolve infrastructure issues.
* Undertakes and reviews proactive monitoring and reacts to escalations from other IT teams to support Infrastructure Analysts.
* Prepares technical documentation and reports on infrastructure operations.
* Logs and completes allocated Incident or Problem Tickets with appropriate level of detail.
* Assists with infrastructure capacity planning and resource allocation.
* Assists in the development and implementation of infrastructure automation and scripting solutions.
* Contributes to the identification of areas for automation.
* Supports projects where appropriate.
Day to Day technical aspects of the role:
* Security Architecture and Design:
o Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to implement secure configurations for devices, networks, and cloud environments.
o Stay up-to-date on emerging threats and implement preventative controls to mitigate risks.
* Security Assessments and Vulnerability Management:
o Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in the infrastructure.
o Prioritize vulnerabilities based on severity and risk.
o Work with IT teams to remediate vulnerabilities and harden systems.
* Security Monitoring and Incident Response:
o Monitor security logs and events to detect suspicious activity.
o Investigate potential security incidents and determine their root cause.
o Implement containment measures and participate in incident response activities.
* Work with security analysts to improve threat detection and response capabilities.
* Security Automation and Orchestration
* Security Awareness and Training
Experience and qualifications required:
* Previous hands-on experience as a Technology Analyst with Connells or similar externally.
* Use of a Service Management Ticketing solution such as ServiceNow.
* Troubleshooting Infrastructure availability and performance issues.
* Ability to express technical opinion on the cause of issues clearly to experienced engineers.
* GCSE Maths and English.
* Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., T-Levels, NVQs, A-Plus certification, ITIL, etc.).
Desirable:
* Professional qualifications such as MCSA/CCNA, etc.
* Experience in implementing Infrastructure solutions.
