The Swansea Bay University Health Board Occupational Therapy Service offers a wealth of experience, diversity and progression. Swansea Bay University Health Board currently has a Band 4 vacancy for a Therapy Technician (occupational, physio, dietetics) in the (List of services and sites).
The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team. The role will involve working under the therapists’ guidance to undertake assessment and intervention programmes with clients as delegated underpinned by appropriate experience/ knowledge.
You will be required to work closely with MDT colleagues and contribute to the development of a high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy service. You will have an opportunity to help shape and promote the service, providing you with a unique opportunity to engage in service development and change.
You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, the contract hours include a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.
Main duties of the job
1. To be a fully engaged member of the Therapy Team providing a service within a defined area, supporting the therapists with clients who may have complex needs in a range of settings including; hospital community, patients homes, schools and outpatient settings.
2. To take responsibility for implementing and managing aspects of the assessment and the care and treatment programme as delegated by the Occupational Therapist in line with service protocol and frameworks.
3. To promote independence, health, wellbeing and safety within the community and inpatient settings adapting the clients social and physical environment to support the individual’s optimum function.
4. Maintain clinical records and report accurately to others.
5. Carry out administrative duties in relation to clinical, service and departmental needs.
6. To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities including completion of the Diploma of Occupational Therapy Support.
7. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Be a fully engaged member of the Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy/ Dietetics CYP Adferiad service and multidisciplinary team providing a service to the specific clinical area.
2. Undertake assessment and intervention programmes with clients as delegated by an occupational therapist/physiotherapist underpinned by appropriate experience/knowledge.

5. Maintain clinical records (paper and electronic) and report accurately to other professionals.
6. Carry out routine administrative duties as per departmental protocols.
Person specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 4 e.g. NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care.
* Documented evidence of participation in training activities.
* Understanding of the role of occupational therapy.
* Membership of professional body and/or special interest group.
* Understanding of the concept of rehabilitation within the clinical area.
* Basic knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance.
* Awareness of Health & Safety legislation & practices.
Experience
* Relevant experience working within health, social or teaching settings.
* Awareness of Occupational Therapy equipment e.g. toilet equipment.
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to work single-handedly with individuals and/or groups.
* Effective written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to travel across sites to work and to carry out clinical tasks.
* Planning and organisational skills; have the ability to reflect on own performance.
* Ability to undertake physical activity involved with therapeutic and care handling of patients using appropriate equipment e.g. hoists.
* Ability to work flexibly according to the needs of the service and prioritise workload appropriately.
* Ability to promote OT in a professional manner.
