Vacuum Specialist - Cryogenic Tanks Location: Chesterfield, England, United Kingdom, S42 5UY Company: Chart Industries The Role The Vacuum Specialist (Cryo Tanks) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, refurbishing and servicing of cryogenic, vacuum isolated, tanks used for the storage and transport of cryogenic, liquefied gases such as liquid nitrogen, oxygen, and helium. The role involves ensuring the safe operation of cryogenic tanks, maintaining system integrity, and performing diagnostics and repairs on tanks and tank components. The range is from small repairs of individual components to full refurbishments of tanks. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with vacuum systems, tools and methods to test them, and create the vacuum. Furthermore a strong understanding of safety protocols related to cryogenic gases would be very beneficial. Who are we Due to growth of the Howden UK business & UK water market, in addition to incorporating our parent company Chart's products into our UK service portfolio, we are opening a new facility based in Barlborough, near Sheffield. Howden UK have been at the forefront of implementing service synergies, including working within the LNG industry, and being part of the drive to implement SDOX (a product from Chart Water). We have recently won business in the UK for cryogenic trailer repairs and overhauls so will be expanding the Howden UK organisation to establish ourselves in the market for service and repair of cryogenic trailers, ISO containers and packages gas units in the UK. Within Chart Europe, we already have established businesses who manufacture, service and repair cryogenic trailers across our business locations in Czech, Germany, Italy and Sweden. Barlborough will be the home of a larger Aftermarket Centre capable of executing the increased growth expected through 2025 and beyond. We are now recruiting a number of new roles to support the growth of cryogenic repairs and overhauls in the UK. What will you do Cryogenic vacuum isolated tank testing, Maintenance & Repair: - Checking and servicing cryogenic gas storage tanks, their insulation, vacuum, transfer systems, cryogenic pumps, pipes, valves and safety valves. - Drying the tank, re- creating the vacuumtestmethod - Perform full refurbishments on cryogenic tanks, especially checking and servicing cryogenic gas storage tanks, their insulation, vacuum, transfer systems, cryogenic pumps, pipes, valves and safety valves. - Inspect cryogenic tanks and piping for leaks, wear, and overall system integrity, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. - Replace or repair damaged or malfunctioning parts such as valves, gauges, pumps, regulators, and pressure relief devices. - Inspecting leaks on the tanks by using helium leak Technical Troubleshooting: - Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess and resolve technical problems Preventive Maintenance: - Perform periodic inspections and preventive servicing. - Monitor the condition of cryogenic tanks to keep the isolation/ good cooling performance - Maintain maintenance logs and records, documenting repairs, inspections, and modifications made to cryo trailers. What do you bring - High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in mechanics, mechatronics, cryogenics, or a related technical field is preferred. - Certification in cryogenics, or mechanical repair is an asset. - Minimum of 3 years of experience working with cryogenic tanks, trailers, or related equipment - Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of trailers, with a focus on those used for transporting liquefied cryogenic gases. - Strong knowledge of cryogenic storage and transfer systems, including the handling of liquefied gases and pressure components. - General knowledge of Trucks/ Trailer technology - Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems in cryogenic trailers. - Familiarity with vacuum systems and cryogenic insulation techniques. - Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair guides. - Experience working with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and standards for cryogenic or hazardous materials transport. - Welding and fabrication skills for trailers and pressure vessel repair and maintenance.(stainless steel) - Familiarity with safety protocols related to transporting hazardous materials.
