South Derbyshire Active Communities and Health Team are looking to recruit up to 10 motivated Casual Active Community Coaches to support various activities across the District of South Derbyshire. You will be part of a team of coaches who will be leading and delivering sporting and physical activities primarily to young people aged between 5 and 16 years, however some activities will also be targeted at the 16+ age range.
Staff will initially be employed to support a wide range of school and community programmes. This will be a combination of community-based sporting programmes with the Active Communities and Health Team and school based educational programmes through the Active Schools Partnership, with additional opportunities to work on the ‘Get Active in The Forest’ programme of outdoor and adventurous activities.
Throughout the summer, staff will work on South Derbyshire District Council’s extensive range of summer delivery between the 8th July and the 30th August. This will include the Active Schools Partnerships, Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Camps across various primary school sites; Get Active in the Forests Out and Active holiday camp at Rosliston Forestry Centre and the Summer Playscheme which will see the Play, Sports and Adventure Mobiles travel across the district to deliver over 100 free sessions to families and young people.
Staff will be employed on a casual basis, however staff may be offered up to 37 hours per week during the school holidays.
All hours are subject to service demand and will include daytime, some evening and weekend hours.
Activities (subject to qualification and experience) could include :- multi sport activities, Bikeability, outdoor and adventurous activities, Nordic walking, cycling, generic sports delivery, event support, leadership programme delivery, sports mentoring, along with projects and programmes associated with the Active Schools Partnership such as competitions and festivals. Full training will be given where necessary for specific activities.
Provisional Interview Date: Thursday 9 May and Thursday 6 June.
