You will provide support with day-to-day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
Responsibilities
1. Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating, and personal care.
2. Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
3. Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of individuals.
4. Provide assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
5. Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
6. Encourage participation in social and recreational activities.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.
2. Empathy, understanding, and patience.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
5. The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges.
6. Competent in verbal and written English.
7. A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential.

Newhouse is located in the semi-rural village of Hurlford, near Kilmarnock, Scotland. Our home offers residential support for 22 adults with a primary learning disability diagnosis, who may also have physical health needs or be on the autism spectrum. Our passionate team is on hand to provide just the right level of support to allow individuals to live as independently as possible.
