Library Administration Assistant Apprentice

This Apprenticeship role is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery and development of the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust Library & Knowledge Service. We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer service orientated individual to join our team, to provide a range of library and administration services to NHS staff and students. As an apprentice, you will receive ongoing training and support throughout the apprenticeship programme.
You will be responsible for carrying out administrative tasks, dealing with document requests, handling general enquiries, lending books, inputting data into electronic systems, and ensuring the smooth running of the Library & Knowledge Service at the Queen's Hospital site in Burton with occasional cross-site working at our Royal Derby Hospital site.
An ability to work both in a team and alone is required, along with the ability to prioritise workload and work well under pressure. Excellent communication and good IT skills are pivotal to this role.
Main duties of the job
* Staff the Library enquiry desk - welcome and support Library users and deal and assist with a range of routine enquiries, for example, information and IT enquiries, book loans, registering new users and assisting with inductions, referring more complex enquiries to more senior staff.
* Assist in supporting users with a variety of e-resources.
* Maintain a safe and tidy Library environment.
* Use the Library Management System to issue, renew, return and reserve items for Library users and register new users.
* Participate in annual stock take and stock weed.
* Share in the day-to-day tasks involved in providing the Library service e.g. opening/closing the Library, responding to Library emails, sorting post, processing inter-library loans.
* Assist with the marketing and promotion of new and existing Library resources.
* Complete the apprenticeship programme, including mandatory training, with the timeframe of the apprenticeship.
Minimum Requirements
* GCSE Grades 4-9 (A-D) in Maths and English or equivalent Functional Skills i.e. Level 2
Experience
* Keyboard / Word processing and other Microsoft office software
* Work experience (paid or voluntary)
Skills
* Good written communication skills evidenced through application form
* Understanding of duty of care and confidentiality
