Department Overview
Nomura Asset Management UK Global Equity team manages a range of mainly developed market Global Equity portfolios on behalf of retail & institutional clients to a total of around $7bn assets under management. The process is highly team-oriented, and Research Analyst recommendations have significant impact on portfolio decisions. ESG analysis is integrated into the investment process of our NAM UK Global Equity team and a significant amount of asset under management is in ESG/Sustainability strategies (SFDR 9 & 8).
Role Overview
You will support and help implement the overall ESG analysis, strategy and reporting as part of the team and working closely with our Sustainable Investment specialist. This role is integral to our increasing ESG footprint with clients, and ideally, we are looking for a highly motivated candidate that has a blend of initial ESG experience (independent of background) and solid data/analysis skills. Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Working with our Sustainable Investment Specialist, support the implementation of the team’s sustainability strategy with respect to our Global Equity Funds.
* Identify areas for improvement and solutions for better ESG integration into the investment process.
* Support stock analysts in ESG analysis and monitoring of ESG controversies and risks.
* Support our Engagement and Proxy Voting process, with Investee companies across the Team.
* Help maintain, analyse, and report Engagement and Proxy voting databases and assist with report writing for both internal and external stakeholders.
* Support the collection of data, measurement of investee companies’ impact through products and services and report writing.
* Support Climate reporting and analysis.
* Assist and medium-term take on own topical engagement/collaboration projects on specific ESG/Impact issues.
* Help to improve current ESG procedures, including data collection, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
* Support responses to internal and external ESG specific client queries.
* Adhere to the NAM code of conduct and all regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience
* Ideally a couple of years of experience in an ESG role, in an Investment, Corporate or ESG data provider organisation.
* Ideally Bachelor/Postgraduate in a Sustainability related topic; post graduate ESG qualifications a plus.
* Some familiarity with ESG concepts, data, Climate, ESG reporting etc.
* Experience in managing database/reporting tasks; ideally some experience with MSCI, ISS, Sustainalytics data.
* Self-organisation and self-motivation.
* Clear and concise communication.
* Interest in investment.
* MS Office, particularly Excel; ideally some database knowledge.
