Job Title: Credit Transfer Evaluation Specialist Physical Location: Kent Campus - Kent, OH Salary: $17.57 Basic Function: Evaluate, validate, and post externally earned college and alternative credit for course articulation. Perform student record transactions impacting student recruitment, advising, orientation, course registration, financial aid eligibility, and degree graduation planning. Reports to designated supervisor. Additional Basic Function – if applicable: Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Evaluate and determine transferability of externally earned credit, including transfer, transient, exam credit, certificates, U.S. military, and trade competency for all Kent State campuses. Analyze and research external credit to establish equivalent coursework. Update and provide on-going process improvement analysis to ensure current credit articulation tables. Perform transient credit verification and posting process utilizing document imaging applications and Cognos reporting system. Utilize Cognos reports and Excel spreadsheets to review, research, analyze, and adjust transfer and alternative student credit to the academic record. Consult with Kent State Admissions offices, Curriculum Services, and Graduation Planning Systems (GPS) to clarify university policies and verify updates into the Transfer Articulation Module. Interpret, translate, incorporate, and answer questions regarding university, State of Ohio, and federal requirements, policies, and revisions to determine transferability of courses and alternative credit; update transfer articulation tables. Conduct research using internet, other university catalogs, and transfer evaluation system applications, including CollegeSource's Transfer Evaluation System (TES), to evaluate incoming transfer work for articulation to Kent State curriculum based on established university and State of Ohio policies. Identify errors in the student data and incoming forms; resolve issues by contacting departments, advisors and supervisory staff; determine the correct action to resolve the error, perform table updates, and re-process entries to ensure accuracy of student's academic history. Provide support to and consult with advisors and students regarding the transfer process. May train and direct undergraduate and/or graduate student employees. May participate in training of new full-time, part-time, and temporary employees. Respond to correspondence and investigate discrepancies; answer inquiries from internal and external persons; resolve problems and recommend solutions. May assist in testing changes to the system designed to streamline transfer articulation process. May assist with system upgrade validation procedures. Assist with special projects as required. Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma, GED, or other equivalent. Two years of experience in higher education utilizing student information systems within a student services office. License/Certification: Knowledge Of: Higher education organizational structure Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel State of Ohio and federal policies and regulations related to articulation and credit transfer Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Skill In: Demonstrated advanced computer skills Well-developed skill in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication Discussion of student records and explanation of policies and procedures Operation of personal computer, scanning equipment, and calculator Accuracy and attention to detail Ability To: Understand and apply transcript evaluation principles and credit equivalency procedures Advanced ability to locate, analyze, and act upon errors in college and alternative credit information Proficiently perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions in order to calculate percentages Adapt to new technology, software, and procedures as required Maintain accurate records Compare and contrast items and information from print, electronic, and online media Classify information according to established methods Read, write, and accurately follow verbal and written instructions Plan and direct work activities to manage time effectively, and set priorities Exercise discretion in distributing and receiving information of a confidential and sensitive nature Communicate accurately with students and staff about transfer policies, procedures, and credit Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: Associate's Degree. Experience working within an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, preferably Ellucian Banner. Knowledge of credit transfer evaluation process.
