Reports to: Global Director of Knowledge Solutions
Role overview
Sitting within the Knowledge Solutions team, but working closely with our Technology Department and external vendor partners, you will be responsible for the design, optimisation, and management of internal and external data into, from and between our firm’s knowledge management applications, including (but not limited to):
* Our Enterprise Search (iManage Insight)
* Our Experience Management database (Litera Foundation)
* Our analytics dashboards and reports (Power BI)
* Our AI clause drafting assistant (Lexis Create DMS).
You will also:
* help evaluate and integrate Generative AI products from a KM perspective;
* participate in information governance policies across the firm, ensuring standards around data management and quality.

Key responsibilities
Your main responsibilities fall into the following three broad categories:
Strategic/design work
* With other key stakeholders, inform decision-making for future knowledge and information capture solutions, including exploration of the use of Generative AI and Large Language Models for KM purposes.
* Understand where all relevant data lives within our Firm’s systems today; what we capture; and how it is classified. Use this information to work with our Technology team to design and implement new KM data integrations, and improve classification methodologies (e.g. SALI).
* Have business oversight of all existing firm KM systems, including devising and enforcing policy around content management standards.
KM Systems Integrations and Operations
* Architectural owner of our Firm’s KM systems and responsible for new data projects, phased releases and BAU.
* Work cross-departmentally to identify and integrate additional internal and external data sources for use in KM Systems and on analytics projects.
* Investigate use of Generative AI tools and external data sources/feeds to support matter and document profiling in KM Systems.
* Liaise with the Practice Innovation team on development of client facing products using KM data.
Data Visualization/Analytics
* Design dashboards to translate and visualize KM Systems usage data via Excel, SSRS and PowerBI.
* Develop and maintain PowerBI dashboards and reports, and train Central KM team members to do the same.
Key relationships
This role is situated within Knowledge Solutions, a team comprising 9 Knowledge Management professionals located across the US and UK. You would report to the Global Director of Knowledge Solutions.
You would have 2 direct reports (Senior Knowledge Systems Lead and KM Systems Analyst).

* Partners, attorneys, and Knowledge Lawyers in all departments
* Director of Records & Information/Office of General Counsel

Experience and knowledge
Essential experience
* Experience of enterprise knowledge/information architecture in a law firm or other professional services environment
* Experience of Foundation or other Business intelligence database within a professional services organization
* Excellent IT understanding, including of IT enterprise architecture and data flows within professional organisations
* Experience with SQL / NoSQL and relational databases
* Experience designing, building, and deploying reports/dashboards using Microsoft Power BI
* A true technologist who is passionate about optimizing the use of data and sharing your skills across a team
* Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
* Experience of supervising and/or mentoring others
Advantageous experience, but not essential:
* Experience of iManage Work DMS databases, or a similar DMS
* Experience in cloud technologies, data pipelines and Python
* Experience of business process design and management, including formal business and functional requirements-gathering processes and procedures
* Experience of information governance policy and enforcement at enterprise level
