A caring and committed personal assistant required to support a 25 year old female to maintain her own independence and to socialize within community in the Pyle and surrounding area. Also to assist with cleaning and meal preparation within the home. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and training can be provided as required and where available.
Hours and rate:
15 hours per week, split over five days.
Flexibility is essential for this role, full notice will be given within an agreed time schedule.
Rate of pay: £12.50 per hour
Work duties would include:
· Support with accessing community events
· Go out for lunch
· Assist with Shopping
· Helping with food preparation
· Cleaning
· Occasional hoisting to and from wheelchair into armchair and vice versa
· Attending doctors appointments when family members aren’t able.
Other requirements
· Working in a safe way and highlighting health and safety concerns
· Assisting with management of health risks
· Establish and maintain effective communication
· Maintaining confidentiality
· Experienced with catheters and chronic pain - For example, on days where the client has had a shower with assistance from the carers you’ll be asked to help leg bag weekly (again I can talk you through this or provide training.) and attach to a night bag. You may also be asked to draw up oral morphine for breakthrough pain when needed as this is outside the carers realm and if out in public pass the client medication from handbag.
· Able to help with anxiety and encourage confidence.
· Willing to compromise and learn new skills alongside the client
Requirements for applicant:
· Flexible, reliable, honest and patient
· Car driver MUST be over 25 for insurance purposes. A full driving license and use of a car is required to get to and from work. You also will be driving your employer in the WAV provided and placed on the insurance.
· May also be asked to undertake any other reasonable tasks that maybe necessary for example being comfortable to assist with personal maintenance that lies outside the carers domain such as shaving, nails, hair and makeup.

This post will require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by Bridgend County Borough Council), as this post requires you to work with children and it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.
