Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services)
RPS is currently seeking Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services) to join either the team in our Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Newcastle office on a hybrid basis.
About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple, niche sectors from residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy and more.
What you’ll be doing: This is an exciting role for an individual looking to progress their career as an Electrical Design Engineer within our industry leading team.
Duties Include:
1. Produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirements
2. Have good technical engineering design knowledge relevant
3. Liaise with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing
4. Work will typically be undertaken in conjunction with an Electrical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification and contract administration process of the projects
5. The work would be a mixture of survey, design work, office based project administration and site attendances
6. Carry out detailed Electrical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects
7. Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept and scheme design stages
8. Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members
9. Inspect and report on electrical building services systems
10. Utilise Building Services software for calculations
11. Undertake Electrical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects
12. Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue
13. Select and specify products, equipment and installation standards relating to Electrical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors
Who we’re looking for: To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IET or CIBSE requirements.
Additionally, you will:
1. Ability to design principle electrical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A)
2. Low voltage electrical distribution from incoming supply through to final circuit to BS7671
3. Internal, external and emergency lighting to CIBSE Lighting guides
4. Small power and fixed power
5. Power supplies for mechanical and fixed power supplies
6. Fire Alarm and detection
7. ICT structured cabling and cable containment related to the above systems
8. Use of Amtech
9. Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD
10. Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above
11. Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
