Job overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Children’s Nurse to join us as a Paediatric Continence Sister on a 37.5 hour per week basis. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse with experience of supporting junior members of the team and working closely with the management team. We need somebody who has excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills who can deliver evidence-based nursing care in the community to children across Trafford.
The Paediatric Continence Service for Trafford is currently undergoing some exciting changes and your role will be to help the Team Leader in development of these changes and to support the current team.
Main duties of the job
* To support the team leader in the management of the service including: working collaboratively with other services such as Bladder and Bowel and the CLDN, running clinics, visiting schools and homes across Trafford to provide flexible care for our patients.
* To act up in the absence of the team leader/caseload holder and be responsible for maintaining agreed policies and clinical standards in accordance with agreed criteria.
* Assist in the development of the wider team and development in designated area of practice in conjunction with the team leader.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Teaching and Assessing Certificate/ mentorship
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Independent/ supplementary prescriber or Community Practitioner Nurse prescriber
* Post Registration qualification in continence care/urology e.g., NM6125: Work Related Professional Skills - Urology and Continence Course or equivalent experience.
Knowledge
* Able to provide high levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical practice.
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Awareness of national and local strategic direction/frameworks
* Enhanced communication skills training
* Role specific skills, e.g. urinary catheterisation, bladder scanning.
Training
* Minimum 3 years as a band 5 staff nurse.
* Experience in the supervision/support of junior team members
* Evidence of implementation of research-based practice
* Experience of research and Evidence of involvement of change management/or audit
Skills and abilities
* Effective Communication and interpersonal skills
* Effective organisational skills and time management
* Ability to work unsupervised and autonomously
* Enthusiasm to promote continence care.
* Able to take self-reflective approach to own practice.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
