Job Title: Security Agent
Reporting To: Security Supervisor
Place of Work: Southampton Airport
Pay Rate: £12.25
Shift work: Earlies, lates, and occasional nights
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to ensure the integrity of all passengers, staff, and their belongings are safe for carriage onto an aircraft. Covering of VIP Flights so customer service skills are very important for this role. In addition, and in line with security agent accountability, other aviation security related duties will be covered. Full training provided.
Accountabilities
Physical Search of passengers, staff, and their belongings
1. Physically search passengers and staff to the required standard.
2. Perform a range of security-based tasks including body searches, baggage searches, access control, aircraft guarding, and document checking.
Control of Access
1. Check and validate any documentation that confirms an individual's eligibility to travel i.e. Boarding Card, Ticket.
2. Control the flow of passengers and staff onto a search lane so that the process and integrity of the search teams is not compromised.
3. Operate any equipment provided that is used to enhance the security standard or defined within the scope of the contract.
4. Complete documentation as required to record confiscated items, items to aircraft, and any other documentation as required by the contract client to carry out passenger screening duties.
Working Environment
1. Shift roster agreed dependent upon requirements, including day, night, weekend, and bank-holiday working where necessary.
2. Working in an inside and outside environment (Aircraft Hanger) working in all weather conditions.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
1. Good communication skills, both verbally and written.
2. Customer focused with excellent interpersonal skills.
3. An ability to understand and carry out clearly written or verbal instructions.
4. Excellent customer service.
5. Good time management.
Complexity and Creativity
1. Postholder has to ensure that the customer is provided with the agreed level of service.
2. Maintains a high level of customer care awareness.
3. Proactive to ensure that they are constantly alert and maintain a high level of security awareness.
Responsibility
1. Responsible for ensuring that the customer receives the highest possible standard of service and that any complaints are reduced to a minimum.
2. To ensure that the Airport Security is to a consistently high standard.
Requirements
1. 5 years UK checkable history
2. Right to work in the UK
3. SIA desirable
4. Security experience
5. DBS checks
6. Successful clearance of a CTC
7. Applicant must be flexible.
