Position: Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Hybrid from Glasgow office
Duration: Initial 6 months - with extension review made at month 5
Rate: £30-40ph
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, specializing in Building Services projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Hevacomp software and a strong background in designing mechanical systems for buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and model mechanical systems for Building Services, including HVAC, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing.
* Utilize Hevacomp software for building services design, load calculations, energy modeling, and compliance.
* Develop detailed design drawings and technical specifications for mechanical systems.
* Prepare reports, design calculations, and other documentation required for project submissions.
* Work closely with project managers, architects, and other engineering teams to ensure integrated and efficient designs.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and sustainability standards.
* Conduct energy assessments and ensure efficient use of resources in building services systems.
* Manage multiple projects and ensure timely delivery of designs.
Skills and Experience:
* Proficiency in Hevacomp software for mechanical and building services design.
* Strong experience in mechanical design for Building Services projects (HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and plumbing systems).
* Solid understanding of relevant industry codes and regulations (e.g., Building Regulations, Part L, etc.).
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Proven experience in managing and delivering high-quality mechanical designs on time and within budget.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Desirable:
* Experience with additional design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or IES for building services.
* Familiarity with sustainability and energy-efficient building design practices.
* Chartered status or working towards it (preferred but not essential).
