We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy administration team within Rheumatology at North Tyneside General Hospital. The successful candidate will:
• Work as support to all sub-speciality secretarial teams providing general office duties supporting the clinical care of patient.
• Report to Lead Secretary.
• Deputise for Band 3 during leave absences.
• Transcribe clinical & non-clinical documents
• Office support:
• reception/telephone enquiries, collecting & opening post, filing, photocopying, messenger, faxing
• PAS Case Note Manager
• PAS data input for admissions/transfers/discharges/OP clinics
• Provide holiday/sickness cover for clerical posts (including ward clerks) within the business unit
• Maintain stationery cupboard

The successful candidate will provide transcription, administrative and secretarial support service to the team. The post holder must be able to use own initiative, work under pressure, keep to strict deadlines and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of IT packages and applications is essential. G2 and SystmOne software knowledge desirable but training will be provided. ECDL and knowledge of PAS and previous experience of working within the healthcare environment would be desirable.

• To assist in the general efficient running of sub-speciality offices including typing/G2 transcription, filing, retrieval and storage of patient records, handling post and dealing with telephone enquiries.
• To cover for other Band 2 Clerical jobs as required.
• To act up to Band 3 for short-term absences e.g. annual/sick leave.
