(Group) Financial Accountant

And we are looking for a Group Financial Accountant for our Global Finance function! Could this be your next role?
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts
1. Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for five trading entities and the parent holding company.
2. Ensure compliance with FRS102 and other relevant accounting standards, including the percentage of completion method for revenue recognition.
3. Perform monthly consolidation of group financials, ensuring intercompany transactions are eliminated correctly.
4. Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed on a timely basis and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
5. Assist in the preparation and interpretation of comprehensive BvA analysis at multiple levels, including company, division, region, and cost center, and input on the forecast impact of this.
Development of Financial Processes and Operations
1. Play a key role in the continuous improvement and automation of financial processes across the group, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
2. Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures to align with best practices.
3. Support the integration and optimisation of financial systems and work towards improving system integrations.
Ad-Hoc Project Support
1. Support the Financial Controller and Head of FP&A on various ad-hoc projects, such as cash flow forecasting, scenario planning, and financial modelling.
2. Assist in the preparation of financial information for board packs, investor presentations, and audits.
3. Participate in financial due diligence and support potential acquisitions or expansion initiatives.
Coaching and Team Development
1. Assist in the coaching and development of a junior team member, providing guidance on tasks relating to AP/AR and bank reconciliations.
2. Foster a culture of continuous learning within the finance team, encouraging professional development and training.
Compliance and External Reporting
1. Support the preparation and filing of statutory accounts in accordance with local accounting standards for each trading entity.
2. Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing required documentation and addressing audit queries efficiently.
3. Ensure all VAT/sales tax filings and other statutory obligations are prepared and submitted accurately and on time for all entities.
Cash Management
1. Assist in monitoring and managing cash flow across the group, providing weekly or monthly updates on cash positions and projections.
2. Work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure optimal working capital management, including payables, receivables, and inventory (if applicable).
3. As Datatonic is a fast-growing business, we pride ourselves on our teamwork and innovation. As such, you may be asked to take on other responsibilities where considered appropriate to support the finance team and wider business.
Requirements:
1. Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), with a strong preference for candidates with an audit background.
2. Strong understanding of financial reporting and consolidations, ideally in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
3. Experience in suggesting improvements to financial processes and systems.
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
5. A collaborative mindset, with experience in coaching and developing junior team members.
To be successful in this role you will be self-motivated and able to manage a wide range of both detailed and more strategic tasks.
The role is being recruited hybrid-remote in the North East of England, with occasional travel to the London office.
