What you’ll be doing As a Media Relations Officer, you will take responsibility for responding to incoming requests from journalists and writing media materials, such as press releases and blogs. Alongside this, you’ll project manage proactive PR campaigns with our external PR agency, sharing insightful and inspiring stories on important topics such as energy efficiency, low carbon heat and electric vehicles. You’ll take a lead on responding to incoming media requests, support the Head of Media Relations in delivering the communications plan for the Customers and Corporate business and provide advice and guidance on external communications issues, identifying risks and pro-actively protecting the company’s reputation. You will plan and draft communication materials, such as press statements, press releases, blogs and briefings on specific issues and you’ll take responsibility for ensuring the timely and accurate compilation and submission of accurate reports, including monitoring of key events, weekly activity reports, monthly coverage reviews and internal reporting. You will contribute to effective management of the retained agencies and develop strong working relationships with key consumer and internal stakeholders. Who you are We’re looking for somebody with outstanding communication skills, experience in publishing content across media channels and a strong understanding of the UK media landscape You’ll be confident in engaging with journalists regularly, experienced in handling confidential information and skilled at conveying complex topics to consumer audiences.
