At London North Eastern Railway (LNER), we're searching for a dedicated Specialist to help shape the future of our cutting-edge Class 897 fleet. If you're driven by quality, safety, and innovation, this is your chance to play a crucial role in delivering exceptional trains that meet the highest standards for our passengers and stakeholders alike.
What You'll Be Doing:
Working closely with our Senior Engineering Manager, you'll scrutinise the design and build of the new Class 897 fleet. From ensuring compliance with industry standards to keeping a keen eye on quality through every stage of production, your expertise will ensure that these trains meet both our specifications and the needs of our passengers.
You'll travel to manufacturing sites in the UK and abroad, conducting inspections, leading audits, and recommending improvements that will keep our fleet safe, reliable, and ready for service. As the project progresses, you'll also support network testing and ensure a smooth transition into operational service, liaising with maintainers to safeguard performance throughout the train's lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Be an integral part of LNER's Fleet Procurement Project team.
* Lead audits and inspections during production and testing phases.
* Collaborate with manufacturers to drive continuous improvements in quality.
* Ensure new fleet designs meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
* Oversee network testing and ensure the fleet's compatibility with our infrastructure.
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience in a railway engineering role.
* Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 experience preferred).
* Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
* Certified or experienced in auditing processes.
* A confident communicator who can engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Organised, with a talent for planning and problem-solving.
