Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen at the University Hospital of North Midlands to join the team of Gastroenterology Consultants working at our Royal Stoke and County sites. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a hepatology interest to provide care and diagnostic services for patients presenting with gastroenterological illnesses. The successful candidates will complement the expertise of 17 Gastroenterology Consultants, 5 SpRs, 5 trainees and 25 Clinical Nurse Specialists working across the Gastroenterology Department. The department has an interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Hepatology, Nutrition, Capsule Endoscopy and Functional Disease. We offer JAG accredited services across both sites which are fully equipped offering advanced GI endoscopic techniques. There are opportunities to continue to develop interests in research and medical education through established links with the Institute for Applied Clinical Sciences and Keele Medical School. Main duties of the job The Gastroenterology Department is the regional centre for Upper GI Cancer, including Hepatobiliary and Colorectal Cancer, as well as non-transplant Hepatology. The Department consists of 1 Gastroenterology Ward with 36 inpatient beds and there are 2 JAG accredited Endoscopy departments across Royal Stoke and County sites comprising of 10 scoping rooms in total, offering a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. The successful postholder will be expected to deliver a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient service; there is an opportunity to discuss the exact job plan and any specialist interests, and where possible these will be accommodated. A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Gastroenterology and General Medicine is required.
