Job overview
The Radiology nursing team is currently looking for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the team; the successful candidate will need to be a dynamic, enthusiastic individual. While previous Radiology nursing experience is preferable, full induction and training will be provided. We encourage and give staff the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies within this speciality.
The Radiology nursing team provide an invaluable service supporting patients undergoing Radiology guided procedures across the Trust's three acute hospital sites. We work closely with multiple specialities, GPs, consultants and other hospital departments.
Main duties of the job
1. Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives, ensuring accurate and seamless information is conveyed and documented.
2. Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of agreed standards, ensuring that any shortfall is brought to the attention of the line manager.
3. Ensure that all quality initiatives within the nursing environment are adhered to and that the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.
4. Undertake nursing assessments competently.
5. Act as the identified nurse for patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care.
6. Supervise more junior members of staff in giving and maintaining high standards of care.
7. Regularly take charge of the Radiology Nursing Department in the absence of a more senior member of staff.
8. Demonstrate leadership in progressing the patient pathway.
9. Act as the patients’ advocate.
10. Liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
11. Participate in taking an active role in planning effective and timely patient pathway through Radiology.
12. Contribute to monitoring of quality improvement metrics to measure quality of care.
13. Identify and minimise clinical and non-clinical risk to minimise risk of harm to patients, staff and visitors.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide effective patient care whilst working as a member of the nursing team across East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust. To ensure the maintenance of high standards of patient care in response to service needs, currently within Radiological services most of the service needs falls between Monday – Friday and within core hours of 8-6. Radiology Staff nurse’s provide sound knowledge and assist in a variety of clinical procedures working with both in and outpatients and utilise a multitude of skills from scrub Nurse working within aseptic technique guidelines to pre-procedure pre-clerking and medication advice.

* Current NMC registration
* BSc Nursing or Equivalent
* Previous experience at Band 5 within Radiology
Experience
* Full awareness of NMC Code of Conduct
* Awareness of Clinical Governance and Risk Management
* Previous NHS Experience
* Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
Knowledge
* Ability to develop working relationships with others.
The ability to converse easily and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for all customer facing roles.
Most positions require a Disclosure and Barring check and will be exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Posts working regularly or unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults require an enhanced check.
