Job summary The Multi Professional Approved Clinician (MPAC) will be responsible for leading and developing a person-centred, trauma informed and evidence-based approach to caring for service users within the Adult of Working Age Acute Inpatient Wards in Salford. Salford inpatients are focussed on using least restrictive approaches to support people by working collaboratively with the clinical teams using Compassion Focussed Therapy informed interventions. It is envisioned, the role of the MPAC will compliment existing innovative practices. The MPAC will also be responsible for setting, maintaining and developing professional standards for nurses within the division. The MPAC will be supported to hold a clinical caseload of patients and work as an autonomous practitioner providing advanced expert and clinical nursing care and treatment. To be accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist care to clients with severe and enduring mental health conditions. To provide clinical leadership in the continual development and provision of excellence across the Division and to lead on specific service development work ensuring its embedded in practice. The MPAC will lead on specific emerging clinical practice across the Trust as well as promoting research and ensuring high standards of Nursing and Professional Practice within Salford inpatient services Main duties of the job Facilitates decision making by planning and mapping processes/interventions with members of the team or the wider service to determine the most appropriate treatment modality or service for clients. Provides expertise and advice to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of nursing care by all members of the wider team across the designated locality. Demonstrates positive approaches in the management of violence and aggression and self-harm as required. Undertake a full range of non-medical Approved Clinician responsibilities, for example treatment reports, consent to treatment, tribunal and managers appeal reports. Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for individual patients and provides highly specialist advice to other professionals, regarding risk assessment and risk management and the high physical risks inherent in the client group. Undertakes highly skilled formulations and makes decisions about treatment options; implements treatment plans for individual patients, adjusting and refining care plans as required.
