Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Must have experience in the utilities and construction industry.
This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and implementing effective safety measures. The Safety Manager will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety within the organisation, building strong relationships throughout the business, and with external clients and contractors.
Duties
1. Develop and implement comprehensive safety programmes and policies in compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
2. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
3. Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, including root cause analysis, to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
4. Provide training and guidance to employees on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and first aid protocols.
5. Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the organisation.
6. Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent future occurrences.
7. Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, and compliance activities.
8. Liaise with external regulatory agencies as necessary to ensure adherence to health and safety legislation.
9. Maintain our Health and Safety Compliance Software and ensure all records are up to date and maintained.
Qualifications
1. Proven experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a similar industry.
2. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and best practices.
3. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly. Must be competent in Office 365 programs.
4. Proficient in conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying issues contributing to incidents.
5. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organisation.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making in high-pressure situations.
