Team: Public Protection Service
About the role
Reporting to the Assistant Director (Public Protection & Resilience), as Head of Public Protection, you will:
* Provide expert advice to senior leadership and elected members.
* Lead and manage a diverse range of statutory regulatory services including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Licensing, and Private Sector Housing.
* Develop policies and enforcement strategies to improve the quality of life for residents.
* Manage budgets, resources, and staff across multiple locations.
* Represent the Council at regional and national levels, working with key stakeholders.
* Respond to public protection incidents, including emergency situations.
* Liaise with the senior leadership team.
* Have responsibility for compliance with health and safety, GDPR and other relevant legislation.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the needs of the service which includes occasional evening committee attendance in accordance with the Council's generous agile/flexible working policy.
