Occupational Therapist - Rotational Band 5

We are looking to welcome applications from new graduates and students to our department, committed to ongoing development and clinical supervision, all set in a modern environment with a friendly team.
We can offer 5-month rotations across a wide range of acute and community services including medicine, emergency admissions, stroke and neurology rehabilitation, trauma and orthopaedics, respiratory, and surgery. The successful candidate must be prepared to work across a 7-day service, which involves working weekends, bank holidays, and extended hours as per service needs.
Applicants must be a qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration or in your final year of study.
Main Duties of the Job
This is a qualified post and provides an opportunity for the Therapist to consolidate core skills and competencies. The key function of this role is mainly clinical and concentrates on the assessment of patients referred to the service. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner and will have the support of a senior therapist, and be part of the planning and implementation of therapy intervention in partnership with patients under their care. These posts are rotational to ensure a rounded learning opportunity.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* If a student, must be in the final 6 months of the course
* Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registration
Skills & Experience
* Knowledge across the range of Occupational Therapy practices in the physical field
* Evidence of theoretical knowledge and continuous professional development
* Relevant undergraduate experience in an acute setting at student level or sound knowledge base and ability to adapt
* Knowledge of the wider multi-disciplinary team
* Basic IT skills
* Ability to demonstrate understanding of NHS and the challenges facing the Physiotherapy profession
Personal Qualities
* Ability to analyse and make clinical judgements about assessments and plans with patients
* Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, relatives, and patients
* Evidence of good time management and personal organisation skills
Interests & Motivation to the Job
* Basic knowledge of principles and practice of Clinical governance and its application to OT
* Knowledge of evidence-based practice and its relevance to IT
* Must be willing to participate in flexible working patterns including weekends
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
* Ability to use initiative and make changes to plans at short notice
* Able to work as an autonomous practitioner in a defined clinical area
* Able to provide spontaneous, as well as planned, advice and teaching to others
* Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, at all levels
