Are you an experienced Accounting Professional with at least 3 years of practice experience? Do you have strong proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks Online, and Dext? We are a small, well-established, dynamic, and forward-thinking cloud-based Accountancy Practice with offices based in Dorset and London. We have an exciting opportunity for a QBE Assistant Accountant to join us on a part-time, work-from-home basis.
Role Profile
The purpose of this role is to provide essential support to our Account Managers, ensuring the smooth running of client accounts and delivering high-quality financial services. You will be assisting in automated bookkeeping, the preparation of VAT returns, financial reports and supporting compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Bookkeeping and VAT Return completion in an automated environment using cloud software
* Assisting Account Managers in preparing annual accounts for small Ltd companies and their Directors
* Processing payroll and pension submissions where required
* Helping to prepare Management Accounts and other key financial reports
* Ensuring that financial data is accurately recorded and maintained in Xero, QBO, Freeagent and Dext
* Reconciling bank accounts, invoices, and financial transactions
* Supporting clients with bookkeeping queries and ensuring best practices are followed
* Liaising with clients to obtain necessary documentation and providing financial insights
* Assisting with ad-hoc financial administration as required
Person Specification
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated and self-reliant. The successful candidate will have:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in an Accountancy Practice (essential)
* Qualified by Experience (QBE) status
* Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks Online, and Dext (essential)
* Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and tax compliance
* Strong IT skills, including Excel and cloud-based accounting systems
* Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and meet deadlines
* Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients
* The ability to work remotely and manage workloads effectively
* Flexible, part-time working hours – ideal for work-life balance
