Role: SEMH Learning Support Assistant
Location: Exeter
Contract: Full time, permanent
Salary: £110 - £120 per day
Are you someone who thrives when making a real difference? Do you have the resilience and empathy to support young people with complex emotional needs?
We’re proud to be working on behalf of an exceptional specialist school in Exeter that caters exclusively for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. This small, nurturing setting is looking for a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join their passionate team.
About the Role:
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work across Key Stages 2 - 4, closely supporting students both academically and emotionally. Many of the young people have experienced trauma and may be diagnosed with ADHD, autism or other neurodiverse conditions. Your role will be vital in creating a stable, trusting environment where they can thrive.
You’ll assist classroom teachers, help manage challenging behaviour and play an important role in developing students’ social skills and emotional resilience. This position goes far beyond traditional classroom support - you’ll be a consistent, positive influence in these young lives.
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
* A relational and empathetic approach to working with young people
* Confident behaviour management and boundary-setting
* A flexible attitude and a willingness to engage fully throughout the school day, including during lunch and transitions
* A good sense of humour, patience and commitment to long-term impact
* You must have previous experience working with children in any capacity in order to be considered for this role
Previous experience in a school or care setting is desirable but not essential - the right personality and attitude are what really count.

We’d love to tell you more about this unique setting and help you explore whether it’s the right next step for you.
