Job Overview
We are seeking to recruit a full-time motivated and enthusiastic Dental Nurse who holds the British National Examining Board for Dental Surgery Assistants’ Certificate / EBDN / NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Dental Nursing. This is a multidisciplinary department which requires a dental nurse to work within the three specialties: Oral Maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Restorative.
This will involve maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Restorative clinics which run alongside minor oral surgery sessions & emergency clinics. X-ray facilities are located within the department.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be reliable, highly motivated, use their own initiative, and work well within a team. They will need to have a supportive, caring attitude and be committed to providing the highest level of care to our patients.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder must be able to:
* Report departmental issues to the clinic manager
* Attend regular staff meetings to review standards of practice and ensure dissemination of information
* Develop good communications and fair relationships with staff across the multi-disciplinary team
* Communicate with all grades of staff regarding patient care, providing and receiving complex or sensitive information
* Liaise between clinician, technician, patient, and external agencies to arrange appropriate appointments
* Effectively communicate with patients and their relatives, delivering information in a way that is easily understood, especially where there are barriers to communication
Person Specification
Qualifications
* National or NVQ in Dental Nursing
* Registered with the GDC
* Evidence of personal development
* Additional post qualification certificate in Dental Radiography
* Additional post qualification certificate in Orthodontic nursing
Experience
* Relevant dental or departmental experience as a dental nurse
* Understanding of policies and procedures
* Knowledge of Hospital / practice computer systems
Skills & Knowledge
* Knowledge of confidentiality / Data Protection Act
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to prioritise appropriately and work with minimal supervision
* Flexible with working hours
