Within our Medlock Unit, we offer opportunities to broaden your skills and knowledge in supporting patients who are receiving SACT and/or supportive treatments in an acute cancer setting. You will receive an individualised induction programme incorporating visits to adjacent areas within the department. This will be followed by completion of the United Kingdom Oncology Nurses competency passport within 6 months.
Once established in post, planning your career direction is considered very much part of your development. There are Cancer Care qualifications available to suit both your individual professional progression as well as that of the service. As a team, we aspire to be compassionate, supportive, personal, and open; patient and family experience is central to everything we do. Therefore, together with solid clinical and technical skills, we expect a deep awareness of the special needs of our patients, along with the ability to support and care for them and their families throughout their treatment. You will be key to ensuring that patients and their families receive good quality care and ensure that their cancer journey is positively influenced.
Informal visits are encouraged. Please contact Helen Bond or Hayley Beer, Senior Sisters at 01225 824852, Monday to Friday.
In order to be considered for this role, you need to hold a valid U.K. NMC registration or be currently studying towards a nursing qualification in the U.K.
