Our successful Telford client is looking for an Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis. The main purpose of this Assistant Accountant role is to take some of the everyday processing and maintenance of the accounting function away from the Finance Manager. The role will be second in command.
As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for:
Supporting the production of the monthly management accounts, the yearend accounts and the regular monthly management reports for presentation to the group.
Day to day supervision of and assistance with the processing of all accounts documentation related to sales, purchases, fixed assets, stock and nominal transactions including all journals.
Prepare and post the month end accruals associated with the purchase ledger.
As required, act as signatory for all bank transactions including foreign currency movements and petty cash and produce cash flow forecasts to assist in planning.
Reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts.
Production of VAT and other HMRC returns.
Support the Accounts Manager with the sales analysis variances as required.
Work with the external auditors to assist their review processes, ensuring that each audit runs smoothly and all information required is available.
Work closely with the Operations Manager to manage the stock and ensure that regular stock takes are conducted effectively.
Prepare and report the KPI data required for the board pack, to include but not limited to carbon emissions, gas and electricity usage, and sickness absence.
Attend the Management meetings as required to assist in the formulation and execution of Company strategy.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally be AAT qualified to a minimum of level 3. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be an advantage, as would any previous stock control management experience. Good working knowledge of MS Excel and strong analytical skills would also be a plus.
