A forward-thinking Housing Association (not-for-profit organisation) focused on empowering individuals to achieve stability, seeks a Management Accountant, overseeing and reconciling data transfers across systems into the Finance system. Joining a Financial team of dedicated individuals, reporting directly to Head of Corporate Communications your role as Management Accountant would be to support budget holders by providing accurate, up-to-date financial information and addressing variances to budgets or forecasts promptly with planned corrective actions. Offered as a permanent contract, the position of Management Accountant provides a competitive salary, appealing company benefits, attractive working environment, hybrid working (2 days office/3 days home) and flexi time (total working hours per week 37.5 hrs, with core hours being any time between Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm). Ideal candidate would possess expertise in Financial Analysis and Reporting, Technical Proficiency, Accounting Process Accuracy and Payroll Management. Candidates will be required to undergo a DBS check. Duties of Management Accountant: Prepare monthly analyses comparing financial results to forecasts and prior year figures, addressing variances with budget holders Review cost centres post month-end for accurate coding of costs and revenues, making corrections as needed Assist and support the implementation of a new finance system over the next 6 months Distribute quarterly budget templates to budget holders and lead monthly financial meetings Support team during absences and train new starters or budget holders on financial processes Investigate significant variances with budget holders and report non-compliance to the Financial Controller Compile financial reports for the CEO and Executive Team Reconcile housing benefits and council tax with the Benefits Team Develop processes for recharges from provider payments Support a project team to track rent and manage arrears Skills/attributes required by Management Accountant: AAT qualification or equivalent experience in finance - essential Knowledge and experience in accounting processes, focusing on financial analysis and reporting Strong numeracy and analytical skills to interpret complex data Experience in payroll management and understanding payroll legislation Proficient in MS Excel and Windows-based accounting software Interpersonal skills to build relationships with various stakeholders Attention to detail and delivering high-quality work Handling sensitive information with discretion Proactive mindset with strong work ethic Collaborative and independent, managing multiple priorities effectively Location: Birmingham, West Midlands – Hybrid role (2 days Office/3 days Home working) Hours: Monday to Friday total 37.5 hours per week – Flexitime (core hours 8 am – 6 pm) Salary: £44,396.00 p.a.
