The Role
You will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the Ophthalmic Surgical pathway. You will be passionate about providing excellent care to all of our patients and you will provide skilled clinical assistance as a member of the clean room list. This is inclusive of peri-operative and post-operative care including the admission and discharge of our patients.
What You’ll Need
* Be a Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
* Have a current NMC/ODP registration with no restrictions
* Previous experience in a clean room or theatre setting, minimum of one year
* Have knowledge in private and operation settings.

The scrub nurse will provide high quality, professional care to patients, doctors, staff, colleagues, health service professionals and others. To act as part of the clinical team to provide a safe, caring, effective experience for patients, relatives, and carers.
They will actively participate as a member of a team to move towards completion of tasks, goals, and objectives; demonstrate leadership and help others to be the best they can within the remit of the role. They will be expected to deliver information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results. This will include actively participating in the ordering, cleaning and processing of surgical sets, instruments and consumables.
There will be a responsibility to ensure the clean room lists run smoothly, safely and efficiently, that all cleaning and regular checks are undertaken of equipment, trolleys and medications and are recorded and signed for and that all issues and concerns are proactively managed and communicated to the Lead Nurse and Operational Director.
The scrub nurse will be able to demonstrate good theatre scrub technique to ensure safety, good practice and patient care. They will demonstrate knowledge and experience in the specialties we undertake at the Clinic.
The scrub nurse will work competently in the clean room, providing support to the Surgeon to maintain a positive patient experience ensuring all information regarding each surgical procedure is documented accurately and recorded.

Main duties and responsibilities
* To welcome patients into the clinical area of The Wye Clinic.
* To undertake all activities in a professional and proficient manner.
* To provide care to our patients ensuring we are safe, caring, responsive, effective, and well led.
* To oversee the running of the clean room lists and assist the lead nurse where necessary.
* Demonstrate and maintain strong clinical standards and patient care.
* Carry out outpatient duties as and when required according to policies and procedures, contributing to quality improvement and promoting best evidence based practice.
* To assist in stock control and ordering of medical supplies and drugs.
* Assemble, check, prepare, and coordinate the use of surgical equipment, drugs and consumables.
* To ensure all team members are practising effective hand hygiene, aseptic techniques, using appropriate PPE and disposal of sharps safely.
* Promote partnership with patients and promote their right to informed choice and support their ability to self-care.
* Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Peri-Operative Suite, Outpatient Clinic and Minor treatment rooms environment.
* Promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals.
* Action start and end of day procedures as per The Wye Clinic Policies and Procedures.
* Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems (i.e. patient notes).
* To challenge non-compliance with IPC immediately and feedback to the Operational Director where necessary.

Pay: From £18.23 per hour
