The Opportunity We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the project management functions across technical work streams, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will assist in managing both commercial and technical aspects throughout all project phases. What you’ll be doing You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering meetings with key project stakeholders, both internal and external. This includes organising and managing Technical Engineering, Cost, Contractor, and Scheduling meetings on behalf of the Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of the project schedule. Actively fostering a culture of continuous improvement, promoting collaborative working behaviours to maintain efficient and effective delivery relationships across Design, Procurement, Pre-construction Planning, and Construction teams. Additionally, you will develop and maintain strong relationships with our supply chain partners. Be responsible for producing the necessary project documentation to support successful project delivery and developing management systems to ensure delivery and quality, in alignment with the Project Controls Department’s requirements. Supporting the Project Manager, help manage the List of Deliverables (LOD), apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, and assist in the development and maintenance of the project schedule. Who you are You’ll have a background that includes project management and organisational skills, ideally gained through practical experience and, preferably, recognised with a relevant qualification. Able to demonstrate strong analytical abilities, including budget analysis and forecasting, and have a logical thought process when communicating complex ideas. Membership with the Association of Project Managers (APM) or an understanding of APM’s Body of Knowledge principles is beneficial. Knowledge of Nuclear Safety Case and CDM Regulations would be advantageous. Additionally, the ability to work well under pressure, within tight timeframes, and with a keen attention to detail is essential. While a degree or similar qualification in engineering, construction, or a related field is preferred, we are open to candidates with a variety of backgrounds. Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, from concept to handover, and a solid understanding of nuclear quality assurance and control is key. You’ll have a desire to progress within a world-class project environment. Engineering or construction experience is ideal, but the most important quality we seek is a strong attitude and a genuine appetite to grow within this exciting opportunity.
