Support the Department Manager in leading and supervising a safe, high standard of nursing practice and the delivery of evidenced based patient care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code and the Trust's Strategy for Nursing and Trust Policies and Procedures.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Gynaecology Division for a suitably qualified and motivated individual to provide strong clinical leadership in the role of Shift Leader within the Emergency room.
The role will involve overseeing and delivering direct patient care, co-ordinating clinics, managing a team of nurses, coaching junior staff, and supporting the deputy manager and department manager with day-to-day operational management.
We are looking for nurses with a strong interest in women's health and previous experience within gynaecology and/or sexual health is required.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual who will be passionate and committed to delivering excellent standards of clinical care and patient experience.
The post holder will have a leading role in developing services and therefore will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to embrace and implement change.

Responsible for day-to-day supervision, allocation and co-ordination of clinically based teams making the best use of their abilities.
Co-ordinate nursing activity on the department/area within the division on a regular basis, demonstrating organisational and leadership skills, and acting as a role model and mentor/preceptor to staff and students.
To be responsible for the provision of adequate staffing levels and appropriate skill mix to anticipate and meet the changing needs of the ward/department.
Ensure the staff are supported and that patient care is of a high standard.
To lead a team whilst assuming responsibility and control of the clinical area in the absence of the ward/department/area manager.
