We are looking for a mental health nurse with specialist Eating Disorder experience to cover a fixed-term maternity leave vacancy within the Adult Community Eating Disorder (ACED) team in Oxfordshire. The team has undergone significant transformation, including a skill mix review and recruitment, and has developed clear internal pathways for different eating disorder diagnoses and interventions.
The community team comprises a multi-disciplinary team including Clinical Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Nursing staff, Dietitian, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers, and team Administrators.
The service is committed to evidence-based practice, and your role will include opportunities for service development. We are open to discussing skills and interests you wish to develop as part of our ongoing personal development review programme.
We are passionate about developing the role of the nurse and continue to create nurse-led pathways and treatment models.
The post holder will be ambitious, possess a positive attitude, and have outstanding clinical skills. The post holder will also supervise other team members and act as Practice Assessor/Supervisor to nursing students and trainees.
Clinical nurse specialists play an important role in educating patients, families, and other healthcare providers about the complex nature of eating disorders. They are trained to carry out specialist assessments and provide evidence-based treatments to help individuals overcome their disorder. They work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans that address not only the physical symptoms but also the psychological and emotional aspects of the disorder.
We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders delivered within the community. There are opportunities for further training in evidence-based treatments, including regular CBT-E (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) supervision, and the service is developing the FREED initiative.
The service operates 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 9 am-5 pm.
