We are seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor for a dynamic construction consultancy team. This role will involve delivering high-profile projects within the utilities and electrical sector. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on schedule. Key Responsibilities: Project Management: Oversee and manage the financial and contractual aspects of projects from inception to completion. Cost Management: Prepare, manage, and negotiate project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency. Contracts Administration: Administer NEC3/4 contracts, ensuring compliance and effective management of contract variations. Early Phases Management: Handle early project phases, including managing consent orders and PCS contracts. Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on project costs, expenditure, and progress for stakeholders. Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks, proposing effective mitigation strategies. Liaison: Collaborate with project teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery. Site Visits: Conduct site visits to Chesterfield, Birmingham, and London as required. Projects: New 400kV Substations: Oversee the financial management of three new substations. Overhead Lines: Manage the cost control for the installation of 60km of new overhead electrical lines. Qualifications and Experience: Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in infrastructure projects within the utilities sector. Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts. Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Education: Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Certifications: Professional membership in RICS or similar is desirable. Working Arrangements: Hybrid Working: Based in Manchester for 2 days a week with the flexibility of remote working for the rest of the week. Travel: Occasional travel to project sites in Chesterfield, Birmingham, and London
