The Role - Manufacturing Engineer
My client, a leading manufacturer specialising in the aerospace and defence industry, is currently seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join the team.
As a supply chain biased Manufacturing Engineer, you'll need to demonstrate a strong technical background of working with suppliers, both new and old, to ensure capability to deliver the business needs, while consistently improving cross-business processes.
Due to the nature of the work and working closely with suppliers, you will need to be flexible and prepared to travel, including within the UK & Europe.
Key Responsibilities - Manufacturing Engineer
1. Provide technical support to suppliers on the improvement of manufacturing processes.
2. Support a cross-functional supplier management team.
3. Act as the main point of contact for manufacturing capability issues.
4. Ensure suppliers understand the requirements of part design intent.
5. Using a range of lean sigma tools, lead problem-solving activities.
6. Conduct gap analysis of existing and new suppliers relating to manufacturing capability.
7. Communicate across business functions on supplier Manufacturing Engineering issues.
Qualifications & Requirements - Manufacturing Engineer
1. Degree in a relevant discipline (engineering/manufacturing).
2. Expert in GD&T.
3. Strong data-driven decision-making skills.
4. Strong manufacturing capability assessment skills.
5. Experience in some of: PFMEA, control plan, MSA, capability analysis, error proofing.
6. Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations.
7. Formal continuous improvement qualification.
