Teaching Personnel are seeking passionate and experienced Autism Specialists to join a supportive team at one of our partner schools in Newport. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and some associated behavioural challenges. You will be working within a primary school’s Learning Resource Base, where you'll provide tailored support to a small group of pupils, helping them reach their full potential.

This role requires a nurturing, patient, and resilient approach, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with other staff members to deliver the best possible outcomes for the students.
Role responsibilities:
* Working in a team environment to support a small class of pupils with Autism.
* Be a positive and encouraging staff member, taking an active and caring role in supporting your pupils.
* Adhere to the school’s safeguarding policies, ensuring a safe environment is created for the pupils to thrive.
* Adapt to situations are they arise, demonstrating flexibility in response to evolving needs.
* To be proactive and reliable, providing daily support to positively care and teach the class.
Job Title: Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:40-15:40
Pay: Minimum: £83 per day
Start: Immediately
The successful candidate will require:
* To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
* Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
* Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
* To be strong and resilient when facing challenging behaviour.
The role will require having experience supporting pupils with Autism, either in a professional or personal setting. Team Teach trained is also highly desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.

This school is based in Newport and is easily accessible via public transport. They have around 400 pupils. They have two dedicated class bases to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs. The school has recently undergone Estyn, where the report finds that the school has “created a highly inclusive ethos where the pupils’ wellbeing is at the core of everything that they do. Pupils work together maturely and there is an excellent working relationship between them and staff. They are happy coming to school and feel safe and cared for.”

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
