Senior / Principal Electrical & ICA Engineer Location: Bristol or Exeter (Hybrid Working Available) We are currently recruiting for a Senior / Principal Electrical & ICA Engineer to join an established engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to take on a key role in providing high-quality engineering design services across turnkey and engineering services contracts. Hybrid working is available, with the flexibility to work from either Bristol or Exeter. Role Overview: In this position, you will report to the Regional Discipline Lead or Regional Engineering Lead. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the design process, ensuring that designs meet all technical and safety requirements while being cost-effective. You will oversee the production of design documents and drawings, all while minimising risks and maximising profitability for the company. Key Responsibilities: - Develop cost-effective design layouts that meet project specifications and can be effectively constructed and commissioned. This includes considering all costs associated with design, materials, construction, and impacts on other disciplines. - Ensure the use of standard practices to enhance project efficiency. - Maintain competitiveness by delivering efficient, high-quality designs. - Provide estimates and feedback to the Proposals department to inform project costing. - Adhere to company procedures and processes, ensuring continuous development within the department. - Contribute to the development, review, and updating of procedures to streamline operations. - Coordinate design processes with other internal and external disciplines, ensuring smooth integration across the contract. - Keep accurate records and maintain files throughout the contract lifecycle. - Ensure customer satisfaction, working in a culture where satisfying clients is central to achieving broader objectives. - Maintain a personal development plan and contribute to the supervision and development of staff. - Promote a safe working environment and adhere to health and safety standards. - Minimise waste and inefficiencies within departmental activities. - Ensure that designs consider environmental impacts and adhere to health and safety regulations. About You: Essential Experience and Skills: - Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems for complex water industry engineering projects. - Expertise with motor control centres, including protection, motor starters (VSDs), and harmonic mitigation methods. - Experience selecting and specifying instrumentation, industrial communications, PLCs, and SCADA systems. - Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles. - Proven experience managing staff in the design of water and sewage treatment plants. - Membership of a professional institution or chartered status (or working towards it). - A relevant engineering degree. - Ability to rationalise designs and produce cost-effective plant layouts. - Broad knowledge across multiple aspects of water treatment, including mechanical, process, and electrical engineering, as well as project management. - Strong analytical skills, with the ability to process large amounts of data. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently present technical proposals. - Proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role. - A valid driving license. Desirable Skills: - Working towards OR Chartered Engineer status. - Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline. - Experience working on design-and-construct projects using digital design methods.
