Organisation
This manufacturing organisation is based in Preston and produces an extensive range of products. They have recently invested significantly in developing their business which has raised their turnover to over £20 million with plans for further expansion in the future via further product development. Replacing someone who grew within the role, they are now seeking a new Assistant Accountant who can take on the position and grow within the wider finance team. The company offers internal progression opportunities as well as study support.
Role Details
This is a developing role, replacing someone who grew with the role. The role will provide a strong link between finance and production and support heavily on accurate accounting for the production of goods, to drive margins and profitability.
They currently use Sage 50 and have a high usage of Excel, so it is important that the candidate has experience with this and is able to use VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
Headline duties will involve:
* Assisting with stock sheets and reconciliations.
* Tracking finished goods on a weekly basis ensuring accuracy on the software of what and where stock is held.
* Calculating production and labor rates and reporting on any variances to assist with improvements.
* Tracking Chep Pallets and Chep Pallet rental ensuring rental costs are kept at a minimum.
* Supporting production daily and weekly on all financial matters relating to production.
* Supporting the cost accountants and production on the use of raw materials to keep an accurate account of margins to drive profitability.
* Supporting the wider finance team as necessary on reporting and analysis.
They are hoping to recruit an accounting candidate who has a strong understanding of accounting principles, with an analytical mindset hoping to progress within a finance position in a manufacturing environment. Due to the nature of the business buying in and producing perishable goods, they are a fast-paced business, so accuracy and attention to detail are key.
The company offers progression along with study support, all exams and learning material paid for with 2 days off per exam.
Requirements
* Must have manufacturing experience.
* Transactional experience.
* Accounting for the production of goods.

* Experience using Excel VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
