East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's Private Sector Housing team as a Regulatory Compliance Officer.
Your role
Our Regulatory Compliance Officer role is a new post combining administrative and investigative skills. The aim of the role is to support the private sector housing team to pro-actively improve the condition of private rented properties in East Suffolk. This role will become increasingly important as the provisions of the Renters Rights Bill, due to become law shortly, come into force. You will hold your own workload, alongside studying for a Level 4 Regulatory Compliance apprenticeship.
What you will need
You will be a focused individual, with a keen passion to improve housing in the area by supporting our housing standards officers with advanced administrative and IT skills and run your own caseload of data-led investigations. You must be a team player who is prepared to take on different challenges to ensure we can together be efficient, effective and focused.
With the ability to review applications, collate evidence and carry out intelligence checks, you will be professionally curious, and have a knowledge of the East Suffolk area. You will need to have the ability to travel independently across the district in your own vehicle.
You will study a 16-month apprenticeship alongside your work, which will place you onto the starting blocks of a career within Environmental Health, as a housing specialist. The course, operated by CSA, will cover housing law and enforcement, assessing risk and the standard of housing, the legal system and general business and local authority functions.
If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don't meet all of the essential requirements, please apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
