Emmanuel College and Grace College are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Science Technician to work across both of our Gateshead schools. Both schools are well equipped and have access to a range of equipment - at Emmanuel College there is a suite of eleven laboratories and nine at Grace College, in addition to preparation, tutorial and storage rooms.
We are looking for a candidate who shares a passion for science and is excited by the prospect of helping to deliver an exceptional science curriculum, with practical work at the heart of it, to all students. The Science Technicians are essential members of the team, supporting the effective and safe learning of science subjects in school. If successful, your responsibilities will include:
1. Preparation of science equipment for the teaching of science practical lessons.
2. Organisation of the preparation room and storage areas.
3. Supporting a large team of science teachers in their delivery of an outstanding curriculum.
You will have some knowledge of all three science subject areas and be keen to support the team.
In return, as well as providing you supportive colleagues and a great working environment, Emmanuel Schools Foundation provides access to the following benefits:
* Defined benefit pension scheme
* Employee Assistance Programme
* Free parking
* Employee centred and family friendly policies and practices that support you in and beyond the workplace
* Enhanced sick pay, maternity leave and paternity leave
* Competitive holiday entitlement for support staff (minimum 25 days, plus 8 bank holidays per annum pro-rated for part-time staff)
* Cycle to work scheme
* Funded eye tests and glasses for DSE users (subject to T/Cs)
Emmanuel College and Grace College are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Where the post is engaged in regulated activity, and/or an opportunity for contact with children, the position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. In addition, as part of the shortlisting process, and in accordance with statutory guidance, we may carry out an online search (for publicly available material) to help identify any incidents or issues that have happened which we may want to explore with shortlisted applicants at interview.
