Job Summary:
To carry out repairs to component level, servicing and testing on a wide variety of electronic, PC based, and electro mechanical equipment. You will need good fault finding, soldering and hand tool skills on a wide range of products. You will also be involved in supporting other areas of the business during upgrades to existing equipment, and development and rollout of new equipment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Carry out repairs to component level, servicing and testing of a wide range of electronic, electro mechanical and PC based equipment. Skills bias will be specified for each vacancy as required.
2. Fault finding to component level with or without the aid of drawings and circuit diagrams.
3. Documenting all repairs on customer services databases.
4. Liaising with Repair Centre management and other departments to deal with problems and inquiries.
5. Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. In particular comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
6. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Skills knowledge and experience:
Essential:
1. Previous experience in an electronic/electro mechanical repair or production/test environment.
2. Extensive experience in the use of hand tools & soldering equipment (through hole and SMD).
3. Experience in the use of electronic test & fault-finding equipment – DVM, Scope, software tools for example.
Desirable:
1. Previous experience with automatic revenue collection equipment and passenger control systems and hardware.
2. Some knowledge of software – Loading software or operating systems, retrieving log files, configuring software parameters on a repaired module, analysing logs for example.
3. Knowledge of ISO9001.
4. Understanding of ESD protection (Electro Static Discharge).
5. Experience of PAT testing for electrical safety.
Education and qualifications:
Essential:
1. ONC level qualification (or equivalent) in an electronic/ PC based discipline, or an electro mechanical/mechanical based discipline, as required for the vacancy.
Desirable:
1. HNC or HND (or equivalent) in a related engineering discipline matching the vacancy.
Personal Qualities:
1. Strong work ethic and desire to deliver excellent service to all internal and external customers.
2. Ability to communicate well at all levels.
3. Able to work unsupervised, and as part of a strong team.
4. Pro-active approach with a “can do” attitude.
5. Able to perform to targets & deadlines and complete tasks efficiently and to set standards.
6. Adaptable and able to perform a wide range of tasks when required.
7. Computer literate – knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages, and database system.
8. Self-motivated.
9. Systematic and analytical approach to problem solving and fault finding.
