Join us to become a key member of our dedicated team to maintain and repair our fleet vehicles. You’ll find the perfect environment to use your knowledge and technical expertise across the service.

We provide valuable support to the wider services across the council, including Cleansing, Housing, Highways, Parks & Open Spaces, Passenger & Transport Services and much more across the city.
With experience of servicing vehicles, plant, and equipment to include fault diagnostics and repairs, you’ll have successfully completed a recognised industry apprenticeship such as an Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) approved apprenticeship and/or a Level 3 qualification in light/heavy vehicle or plant engineering (City & Guilds Part II, BTEC National, ONC/D or similar).
You’ll have a Full UK driving licence. An LGV (Cat C) licence is desirable but not essential.
What we can offer you
There are many benefits to working for the Council which allow you to have a good work-life balance such as:
1. 5 weeks paid holiday entitlement per year – this will increase by another week after 5 years’ service.
2. 8 Bank Holidays off per year;
3. Staff discounts for shopping and gym memberships;
4. Flexible working in agreement with management.
We are supportive of upskilling and providing development opportunities. We pay for refresher training for mandatory qualifications with time-off to do this. If you are a highly skilled and self-motivated individual who is committed to providing an excellent service, then we would love to hear from you.
