The TVRA is an alliance between the Research & Development Departments from North Tees & Hartlepool NHS FT and South Tees Hospitals NHS FT.
The post holder will provide daily operational management and clinical oversight of the TVRA Research Delivery Team. They will provide innovative and effective leadership for the entire research delivery workforce and directly line manage the Research Team Leads from constituent Trusts. The post will be employed by South Tees Hospitals NHS FT but the post holder will be required to have a regular visible and active presence in both constituent Trusts.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Research Manager will ensure the safe and ethical implementation of clinical research studies in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct, Trust policies, Conference on Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials Directives and UK Policy Framework across the TVRA.
They are clinically accountable for service delivery and ensuring all staff are aware of changes in NMC Code of Conduct, Policy and regulatory guidance which may affect the same and compliant delivery of clinical care for patients in research trials.

Person specification
Knowledge
* Highly developed specialist knowledge of research staffing, infrastructure and funding models
* Knowledge of local and national research performance targets
* Knowledge of current national systems and structures for the approval, management and monitoring of clinical research in the NHS
* Has completed a piece of independent research in an area of clinical practice
Experience
* Significant experience of working within a research management and governance environment including management of clinical trials portfolio for both commercial and non-commercial trials.
* Experience of managing professional development and professional conduct issues of staff
* Experience of NHS and research budgetary management.
* Experience of appraisal, staff development, clinical supervision and re-validation of nursing staff
* Experience of developing and providing research related training
* Experience of previous change management or service development including development and implementation of policies, procedures and SOPs
Qualifications
* Current NMC registration (appropriate RGN/RN/RM/RSCN/RLD)
* Holds, working towards a Masters qualification in research or management related discipline or other equivalent experience
* Current and valid Good Clinical Practice Training (GCP)
* Holds a leadership qualification
* Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable clinical competencies
* Holds a coaching qualification
