Who You Are You are a qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England, with a minimum of three years of post-qualification experience in children's social care. You possess strong communication skills in English and the ability to influence others, using your proficiency to coordinate services and supports effectively. You are adept at building positive, supportive, and respectful relationships with families and have experience working on permanence planning, handling cases from proceedings through to adoption, and other forms of permanence. You thrive in challenging environments, applying social work theories and research to address complex contexts such as mental ill health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and discrimination. What the Job Involves This role requires managing a caseload of vulnerable clients or those with complex problems, focusing on ensuring children grow up in safe, nurturing homes. You apply the Signs of Safety practice model to assess risks, develop contingency plans, and coordinate with family and professional networks. Regular duties include conducting holistic assessments, engaging in life-story work with Looked After Children, and participating in child protection enquiries. You lead meetings, make legal recommendations, and maintain up-to-date case notes. Continuous learning and reflection on practice are integral, supported by training opportunities and collaboration with peers. As a representative of Bexley Council’s values, you operate within legal and policy frameworks and engage in feedback to improve service delivery.
